Dutch Heritage World Tours just released the audio tour “How Dutch Is New York? – The Albany Tour” in cooperation with the Albany Heritage Area Visitors Center Association; The Schenectady Stockade Tour in cooperation with the Stockade Association of Schenectady Dutch Heritage; the Hudson Valley Tour; and the Mohawk Valley Tour. All tours are available on the izi.TRAVEL app for your smartphone.

“How Dutch is New York?”

Anyone with a smartphone or tablet can download the tour and walk the historic part of downtown Albany – called Beverwijck in the 17th-century Dutch colony of New Netherland – and discover the history and heritage Albany shares with the Netherlands in a new way. In cooperation with the Stockade Association of Schenectady Dutch Heritage World Tours also released the “The Schenectady Stockade Tour,” also available in the izi.Travel app. With this second tour, you can view the houses of Dutch-American origin and hear stories about Arendt van Curler, Lawrence the Indian, and many more historical figures from our shared past at the historic Schenectady Stockade. The latest additions to the tour, the Hudson Valley and Mohawk Valley Tours, are both driving tours that capture the historic Dutch presence over the larger valley areas.

Once a tour has been downloaded, it works with GPS zones, so no more data roaming. When you walk into a GPS zone near a site, you’ll get to hear the information automatically. As these tours are in two languages, you can have your choice of a Dutch or an English tour.
