In the early nineties, a young Dutch contrabassist planned a four-month study trip to New York... But now, 25 years later, Joris Teepe is still living in the Big Apple and currently one of the most influential artists on the New York jazz scene. On Tuesday, February 20th, 2018, Joris Teepe will give a The Netherland Club JAZZ concert, to celebrate this 'NY anniversary'. Together with his award-winning Trio of Liberty, Joris Teepe will bring an evening that reflects his 25 years of Dutch jazz in NY. A retrospective masterclass in both music and words... Because Joris is an enthused storyteller who loves to share his passion for jazz music. And 25 years in New York is food for many juicy stories.

Joris Teepe (acoustic and electric bass) has been (and still is) working with many Legends & Stars in jazz, such as Benny Golson, Barry Harris, Bobby Watson, Sonny Fortune, Tom Harrell, Chris Potter, Billy Hart and Randy Brecker. His longest stint was with Rashied Ali, with whom he toured the world for 9 years. Joris Teepe has recorded 16 CD’s as a leader, composed over 100 originals and leads his own Big Band in New York, performing exclusively his own music. But Joris Teepe is not only a leading and defining musician in NY's jazz scene, he has also established record producer and jazz educator (Queens College NY and Director of the Jazz Department in Groningen, The Netherlands).
Together with his friends, the top New York musicians Don Braden (saxophone) and Winard Harper (drums), Joris Teepe forms the TRIO OF LIBERTY. Braden and Harper both have long and amazing careers in jazz. Down Beat magazine selected their CD “Conversations” as CD of the year 2017. Trio of Liberty, consisting three experienced and leading top New York jazz artists, will give you an unforgettable TNC JAZZ evening at The Netherlands Club, to celebrate Joris' 25th NY-anniversary.
