June 8, Ella Overkleeft of the Night Mayor foundation of Amsterdam will speak at the Chicago Forum on Global Cities 2017. The Night Mayor foundation is an independent non for profit foundation dedicated to ensure a dynamic nightlife and helps to build bridges between the municipality, (small) business owners and residents. Ella’s talk will be at 3.40pm at the Art Institute of Chicago. More details about the event can be found here.
Shortly after the successful talks of Amsterdam’s Night Mayor Mirik Milan at the Smart Cities Conference in New York City, Ella Overkleeft was invited to speak at the Chicago Forum on Global Cities. The event, hosted annually by the Chicago Council on Global Affairs and the Financial Times, raises provocative questions about the influence of global cities and how they can solve pressing global challenges. Participating thought leaders and decision makers make new connections and develop innovative solutions to advance in their own cities.
Ella Overkleeft is a creative producer with an emphasis on social and urban development. She is the co-founder of the Night-Mayor Foundation in Amsterdam. In this role she has spoken for TEDx and visited cities like Moscow and Athens. She is at the forefront of social and cultural development in nightlife and beyond. Besides working at the Night Mayor office, she works on the progressive prevention campaign ‘Celebrate Safe’, a national campaign for all the festivals and clubs that support safe partying. In addition to her main projects, she works to enhance the creative value for the city of Amsterdam.
