March 17: Closing Event of the Sanctuary, a multimedia community arts festival, in Brooklyn.

The Sanctuary is coming to an end! To celebrate its last night there will be a live music event featuring Drew Angus, Eli Sundae, Melanie Charles.

About the artists:

A promising young voice in songwriting, Drew Angus is just the kind of new blood that makes pop music so enduring. With indelible hooks, and savvy craftsmanship, and city informed lyrics, he brings a certain verve to his work that has resonated with audiences and fellow performers alike. His work ethic and effortless appeal have led him down some pretty amazing paths. He was a finalist on the Farewell Season of American Idol, has had the opportunity to share the stage with Will Evans (Barefoot Truth), Anders Osborne, Marc Broussard, Nakia from Season 1 of the Voice, and sing with Blondie Chaplin and Ivan Neville on a record produced by the legendary Rob Fraboni (Bob Dylan, The Rolling Stones, Bob Marley, and more). His 2013 single Something Crazy, produced by Joe Vulpis (Lady GaGa) made it to #30 on the iTunes Singles charts.

Eli Sundae is the solo effort of Brooklyn-based musician Eli Dreyfus, of the bands UV Rays and Camper. He makes music like his mother makes dance, and like her father made paintings: short, silly and sad. This project sees Eli reaching back into their art to find a history for his. Eli Sundae’s debut record, “Betcherino,” comes out in June.

Melanie Charles is a Brooklyn based singer-songwriter actress and flutist of Haitian heritage. A 2016 graduate of The New School for jazz and Contemporary Music, she has toured the US and abroad with various projects including Atlantic Recording artist Laura Izibor, Italian Guitarist/producer Nicola Conte, and Brooklyn based band People’s Champs. After releasing a strong collaborative sophomore album under the name ‘Rat Habitat’ with guitarist Jordan Peters (Lauryn Hill), Melanie aka D’flower now emerges with a solo experience using a Roland SP 202 to create a Chaka Khan meets Badu-esque “sonic collage” fusing RnB, jazz, and Haitian folk songs. Melanie Charles will be accompanied by Cinque Ubangi Kemp on drums (Jojo Abot, Hypnotic Brass Band, Reggie Watts)
