Visitors enjoying the exhibition

It’s the first time that Foam brings its selection of Foam Talents to New York. The exhibition will take place during the 37th edition of The Photography Show (presented by AIPAD).

Every year Foam organizes the Foam Talent Call to identify young and international talents. From a total of 1494 submissions from 75 different countries across 6 continents, 24 photographers were selected to be featured in the annual Foam Magazine Talent Issue. The exhibition Foam Talent, developed with work from the latest Talent Issue, brings together the work of an international young generation of artists.
With this exhibition Foam presents its views on the current state of photography and creates a platform that introduces emerging talents in the international world of photography.

Photo-objects, installations, beamers, lightboxes and wallpapers: Foam Talent goes beyond your classic photography exhibition. From the conceptual approach to the both mythical and violent favelas of Rio de Janeiro by Stefanie Moshammer, the colourful photographic constructions of Nico Krijno, to the chemical experiments on film by Daisuke Yokota in which the camera becomes irrelevant, the exhibition displays great diversity in artistic approaches. With each portfolio the selected artists prove to have very distinct and unique visions within a variety of genres. In a presentation with more than 100 photographs Foam Talent reflects the diverse and often surprising development of the medium of photography.

About Foam

Foam is short for 'photography Amsterdam' and is an internationally operating organization in the field of photography, based in Amsterdam. Foam informs and inspires the widest possible audience by presenting all facets of contemporary photography.

They accomplish this by organizing a range of activities. These vary from exhibitions to publications, debates and educational projects. Foam discovers, develops, defines, publishes and stimulates. In this process, scouting and presenting young, emerging talent is one of their distinguishing qualities. Many activities take place from within the Amsterdam museum, but for specific projects, Foam will also approach an international audience.

Foam frequently organizes events abroad, often in close collaboration with their partners. Foam is situated in the heart of the international photography community and aims to be constantly up-to-date. They respond to the latest developments in photography with original yet relevant projects, and are not afraid to break with tradition and strike new paths. In this process, quality, flexibility, innovation, accessibility and entrepreneurship are core values.
