Maison the Faux show during New York Fashion Week

Maison the Faux presents Chubby Chaser Show at MADE New York Fashion Week

As part of the official New York Fashion Week (September 8 – September 14) Dutch couture Fashion House Maison the Faux presented its very first New York show ‘Chubby Chaser’ on September 10. Only two years after opening its creative studio in Arnhem, they are taking on New York with the slogan: “We are never satisfied; only ever hungry for more. ‘Chubby Chaser’ is a never ending desire for more, more, more. In the insanely strange world of fashion, fashion houses act as godlike institutions; telling us how to look, act and who we should be. Fashion seems to be a repeating ritual of brands overfeeding us. The collection consisted of a number of looks restraining excessive fabric and skin and featured garments with carefully proportioned excess of fabric, breast augmentation dresses and cinched waists to exaggerate the overabundance of bare skin. Maison the Faux uses fabrics such as denim, leather, recycled furs, slits, knits, silk in earthy tones of nude as well as fleshy baby pink and baby blue. To create “CHUBBY CHASER” Maison the Faux worked under the art direction of Joris Suk and Tessa de Boer together with a number of creative partners called “les Résidents”. The label is convinced that young talent and concession free designs are an important addition to the current fashion landscape. During Maison the Faux’s ‘Chubby Chaser’ presentation, the Faux fashion house once again showed their view on fashion by the means of a conceptual collection presentation. A strange fat worshipping ritual took place at Milk Studios with models continuously circling around a giant blow-up fattent and worshipping the ultimate “Chubby Chaser” queen.

About Maison the Faux

Maison the Faux is a creative studio posing as a grand couture fashion house. The house aspires to be an affectionate reaction to the current fashion industry and a big faux wink in the direction of an audience liberated enough to move freely through an often narrow-minded world. ‘The Fictional House’, a rough translation of Maison the Faux, is rooted in a great sense of humour and self-mockery, combined with a deep love of fashion. Maison the Faux represents a new outlook on masculinity and femininity creating “Humanwear”. As head of the creative team of Maison the Faux, designers Joris Suk and Tessa de Boer head the Arnhem-based fashion House. For every collection and project Maison the Faux collaborates with creative individuals, the so called “Résidents” looking to shake up the fashion scene, create room for young designers and to innovate design and production. On the 23rd of January 2014, Maison the Faux was officially launched at Amsterdam Fashion Week, debuting the label’s unique signature for the first time. Since its launch Maison the Faux released three collections: ‘It’s Cleaning Day!’, ‘Make a U-turn if Possible’ and ‘C’est Vrai ou C’est FAUX?’. The Maison the Faux shows have attracted widespread attention due to their conceptual and theatrical character.
